2027 Minimum Wage Increases

The following states will raise their minimum wages on January 1, 2027. These increases apply to all employers operating within these jurisdictions, regardless of company size.

Updated Minimum Wages include the following:

California - $17.40

Connecticut - $17.48

Michigan - $15.00

Nebraska - $15.26

Rhode Island - $17.00

Virginia - $13.75

What Employers Should Do Now:

  • Audit Pay Rates: Ensure all non-exempt employees are paid at or above the new minimum wage for their location.

  • Update Payroll Systems: Make necessary adjustments in payroll systems by the June payroll cycle.

  • Review Job Postings and Offers: Update hourly wage info to reflect new minimums.

  • Notify Employees: Update and repost workplace wage notices as required by law.

Additional Considerations for Employers

  • Exempt employee salary thresholds will increase, as they are tied to the minimum wage. You must ensure exempt workers still meet the new salary basis test. For most exempt employees, the minimum salary will be $72,384 per year.
